This home was created for a young family working with a modest budget. They were seeking calming, functional spaces, and sustainability was also a priority.

Flooded with northern light, the home stays naturally warm in winter through its thermally efficient concrete slab, while highlight windows capture the sea breeze to cool it in summer. The north-facing kitchen and dining area overlook the garden and pool, creating a relaxed, effortless flow for everyday family living.

We looked after the interior and exterior design scope for the home and landscaping. We selected all internal and external materials, including WA blackbutt cladding and decking, stack-bond concrete feature brickwork, steel detailing and hempcrete render. We designed bespoke cabinetry, feature ceilings, and concrete elements. Outside, we designed the garden beds including plant selection and designed the outdoor kitchen and Argentinian style BBQ. We selected the layout and materials for the Biotop swimming pool and surrounding alfresco area. We collaborated with local makers on bespoke furniture, and artwork selection featuring local artist, Britt Dunbar.

Alongside the design, we managed procurement and project delivery to ensure the details were built as intended, creating a cohesive home, designed to grow with its family and sit comfortably in its coastal surrounds.
