This project focussed on creating two off-grid chalets on 170 acres of farmland overlooking Lights Beach, near Denmark WA.
Our role spanned the interior and exterior design scope. Outside we looked after the selection of external materials and finishes such as cladding and brickwork, and designed fire pit areas and garden beds. Internally, we designed the feature ceiling, selected all the walling and flooring materials and collaborated with local makers on solid-timber cabinetry, shelving, and built-in reading nooks. Bathrooms were finished in plaster for a soft, durable surface and paired with handmade clay tile benchtops and splashbacks. We selected lighting, hardware, and kitchen, bathroom and laundry fittings to keep these elements cohesive.
Alongside the design, we managed procurement and project managed the build to ensure the vision carried through.
Drawing inspiration from the surrounding landscape, we worked with natural textures, earthy tones and simple, enduring materials to create dwellings that quietly reflect the beauty of their setting.
